SUPPORTING SOCIALLY ENGAGED ART FOR SHIFTING CONSCIOUSNESS, PROMOTING MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE, STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS, AND CULTIVATING EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENTS.

VISUAL VOICES (VV) is a non-profit organisation based in Nicosia, Cyprus. Since 2018, we support socially engaged art practices and initiatives in Cyprus and internationally.

OUR VISION is to empower artists to tackle urgent environmental and social challenges, creating work with both local impact and transnational resonance. We amplify diverse artistic voices and contribute to a more inclusive, robust and dynamic cultural landscape. Our ultimate ambition is to build a global community of organizations and practitioners who recognize the power of arts-based interventions for societal transformation.

OUR MISSION is to create accessible spaces for artistic experimentation, promote multicommunal collaboration, and stimulate public dialogue. Our approach is based on radical participatory practices, and centers on co-creation with artists. We also focus on building interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations, connecting artists with community leaders, policymakers, activists, researchers and diverse publics to enhance artistic careers, build new methodologies and create social impact.

OUR STRATEGY is to integrate arts-based methodologies with research and advocacy campaigns through residencies, professional support workshops, exhibitions, campaigns, conferences, and community projects.

Our work revolves around three intersecting key pillars:

  • Artist-focused programs — Supporting and empowering artists by providing them with resources, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

  • Non-commercial Platforms of Expression — Creating inclusive platforms and spaces for artistic expression and collaboration, valuing recognition, pluralism, and accessibility.

  • Community Partnerships — Coordinating participatory practices that unite artists, activists, CSOs, local stakeholders and diverse publics to address shared concerns through arts-based methodologies.
